Site Policies

The Figure Skater's Website is privately published as a service to the figure skating community. It is my hope that all will benefit in an appropriate manner from the content contained herein.

This site is not an official site of USFS, the ISI, the PSA, or any other club or organizing body, nor is it or its content officially endorsed by any of the aforementioned. I've tried to correctly state all facts, rules, and insights, but my words here carry no official sanction. So if you find any errors here, the problem is mine, and neither the fault nor the representation of any other organization. All opinions published are those of the author alone and do not necessarily reflect the official position of any of the aforementioned bodies.

COPYRIGHT: All original content is Copyright 1994-2005 by the Figure Skater's Website. Permission is granted for clubs, rinks and schools to reproduce materials for instructional or non-profit purposes, with attribution.

COOKIES: The Figure Skater's Website does NOT send "cookies" to your PC, nor does it interrogate your computer for any personal information whatsoever. The Figure Skater's Website does not collect or share personal data with any marketing firms, mass mailers or vendors.

DATABASES: The Figure Skater's Website does not compile or keep databases of any personal data about its site visitors, excepting for email addresses entered by visitors for the purpose of "subscribing" to site update notices, and for data which is "published" for public viewing (such as phone numbers and email addresses entered by visitors into listings such as the used skate exchange, partner exchange, competition announcements, etc), and for event registration as noted below. No unpublished information is transmitted to vendors, mailing list companies, etc for any reason.

MINORS: All persons under the age of majority are forbidden to enter personal information into the Figure Skater's Website, without the permission and knowledge of their parent or legal guardian.

RANDOM PHOTOS: The Figure Skater's Website publishes occasional photos of skaters, friends, and family members as seen at skating events. We post these photos in the spirit of reflecting glimpses of people and life within the skating world. Individuals in said photos are not pre-selected nor purposely excluded, but are randomly included as seen. Whenever minors are included in random photo images, names are not displayed. All photos representing skaters are for private viewing only, and are not to be republished or used for any commercial purpose.

DEMONSTRATION PHOTOS: On some pages on the Figure Skater's Website, skaters are pictured for the purpose of demonstrating elements. These skaters are acknowledged by name and club, but are not financially or otherwise compensated for their demonstration, excepting for the provision of a printed copy of the page containing their photograph. Such photos are used only with the express permission of their parents or legal guardians. All photos representing skaters are for private viewing only, and are not to be republished or used for any commercial purpose.

PHOTO-REMOVAL: Anyone may request removal of any photo posted on the Figure Skater's Website at any time, by simply emailing the webmaster.

DOWNLOADABLE: The internet is a very public place. Be advised that any image, text or content visible on any worldwide web site can ultimately be downloaded to the PC of any site visitor. Copyright notices on every page of the Figure Skater's Website indicate that no content (including photos) be copied other than for personal viewing or instructional purposes. These notices however cannot guarantee that a visitor will abide by our restrictions. If you have any concerns about any image or text on the Figure Skater's Website which could affect you, your family or others, please promptly contact the webmaster and request the removal or alteration of said content. The Figure Skater's Website cannot predict, nor be liable for the actions of those who visit our site.

OFFSITE LINKS: The Figure Skater's Website includes some links to other websites. In general, on menu pages these links are identified through the use of a hollow "bullet". The Figure Skater's Website attempts to ensure that only age-appropriate content is linked, but cannot be responsible for changes that may occur in target websites. If you find anything offensive either in a linked external site, or within the Figure Skater's Website itself, please contact the webmaster to recommend its removal.
